Scrobble
What Is Scrobble?
In the media world, a scrobbler sends information about what you watch to another service, like Trakt. Plex has a built-in scrobbler that sends a webhook when you finish watching something. Lumunarr doesn't need the details it sends, only the moment it fires, which makes it a useful trigger for the end of a movie or episode.
Plex sends the scrobble webhook at the moment it marks the video as played.
When Does Scrobble Happen?
Depending on how your Plex Media Server is set up, Plex marks a video as played at one of these points:
- When a set percentage of the video has been watched (90% by default)
- At the first credits marker
- At the final credits marker
- At whichever comes first: the set percentage or the first credits marker
Credits detection was added in Plex Media Server version 1.31.0. You can find the Video played threshold and Video play completion behavior settings under Settings → Library in your Plex Media Server settings.
Using Scrobble With Credits Detection
When scrobble is tied to the credits, you can bring the lights up as soon as the credits start rolling instead of waiting for playback to stop. It's a fun way to recreate a movie theater experience. See the example setup.
Plex tends to send the scrobble webhook a second or two before the credits actually start, which can give away a cliff-hanger ending. Use the profile's Scrobble Delay to hold the lights for a few more seconds.
